Recently, I was invited to an unusual and deeply meaningful event held at Moore Bliss Farm —a lush and peaceful corner of Sarasota. This serene and thoughtfully designed property perfectly reflected the event’s sustainable spirit. Surrounded by native landscaping and vibrant rows of organic vegetables, participants learned how to compost organic food waste — a process fully integrated into daily life at the farm.

More than just a backdrop, Moore Bliss Farm is a working space where on-site compost supports food production and ecological landscaping. This beautiful, peaceful property is also available for rent for small gatherings, workshops, and events. With its calm atmosphere and strong connection to nature, the farm offers inspiring potential for a wide range of community-focused experiences.

Grace Moore hosted the gathering, joined by her mother, Elizabeth Moore — a well-known Sarasota philanthropist and passionate conservationist.

The event supported Sunshine Community Compost, a local nonprofit dedicated to reconnecting people with the earth through simple yet powerful composting practices. Their mission goes far beyond soil — they aim to create community, reduce waste, and help people live harmoniously with nature.

Elizabeth Moore lives and breathes environmental advocacy. Her preservation of Triangle Ranch—over 1,100 acres of pristine Myakka land—is a lasting gift to future generations. Her dedication to Sarasota’s ecological well-being is inspiring and impactful. You can read more about her legacy here.

What touched me most was seeing her daughter Grace follow in her footsteps. It gives me hope that the next generation will understand and embody the values of sustainability, regeneration, and respect for the land.

The event wasn’t flashy. It was authentic — centered around conversations, learning, and connection. Sunshine Community Compost reminded us how simple acts — like separating food scraps or building compost bins — can have profound ripple effects. Composting reduces methane emissions, supports healthy soil, and diverts waste from landfills. But more than that, it reconnects us to cycles of life that modern convenience has tried to make us forget.

To live sustainably doesn’t require perfection. It requires awareness and a willingness to do things differently, pause, and give back.

Being bohemian isn’t limited to creativity or aesthetics—it’s a way of seeing the world differently and living with deeper awareness. To go beyond trends, to think deeper, wider, and further.

I was honored to attend this gathering. It reminded me that a beautiful life is not measured by what we consume but by what we cultivate. And sometimes, the most radical thing we can do is return to the earth—quite literally—what she has so generously given us.
