What "Bohemian" Does Mean To Me

One of the most frequent questions I get asked is, "What does Bohemian mean to you?" Being Bohemian means thinking beyond the conventional, embracing creativity, and being truly unique. It’s about seeing the world differently and expressing that vision in everything I do.

"Bohemian" originated in the 1960s when talented, free-spirited, and knowledgeable young people began traveling the world and proclaiming their values. These individuals were far from the later stereotype of hippies with unkempt hair settling somewhere in Asia and listening to underground music. Real Bohemian people were innovators who contributed significantly to art, design, music, and various other fields. They were the elite—stylish, classy, and profoundly impactful.

Bohemians were trailblazers who brought a fresh perspective to the world. They weren't just wanderers but creators and thinkers who enriched our culture with their avant-garde ideas and artistic expressions. This movement wasn’t about rejecting society but enhancing it with a new, vibrant layer of creativity and sophistication.

Today, when I refer to myself as Bohemian, I align with those original values of innovation, elegance, and cultural contribution. It's about maintaining a sense of style and class while pushing the boundaries of creativity and thought. Being Bohemian is an identity transcending mere fashion or lifestyle—a commitment to living artfully and authentically, making a lasting impact on the world around me.
