“You are the architect of your body and destiny.” - Anonymus.
The article I’m sharing today resonates deeply with me. My adventurous younger years, marked by motorbike and car accidents, led me to prioritize caring for my spine through daily stretching and exercise—a commitment I’m profoundly grateful for.
The Sarasota community is fortunate to have a unique Pilates studio led by Cinde Carroll (cindecarroll.com), who specializes in the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methods. These innovative systems combine specialized exercises, breathwork, and workshops to offer a professional and holistic approach to body care and well-being. Today, I invite you to dive into Cinde’s inspiring story.
Cinde, originally named Cindy, transformed her identity by changing the spelling of her name to signify personal evolution and growth. Growing up on the south side of Chicago and later moving to the west suburbs, she immersed herself in martial arts, ballet, and jiu-jitsu. At 16, she joined an elite martial arts school, earning the nickname “Little Ninja” and gaining confidence teaching high-ranking athletes. Her passion for movement led her to a career in fitness, where she became a sought-after trainer, working with professional athletes and incorporating elements of Pilates, breathwork, and martial arts. Cinde’s holistic approach emphasized alignment and the body’s connection, laying the foundation for her future endeavors.
Cinde discovered the GYROTONIC® system, created by Hungarian dancer Juliu Horvath, and was captivated by its spiraling movements and holistic methodology. Using specialized equipment with pulleys and handles, Gyrotonic combines stretching, strengthening, and alignment—a comprehensive approach to fitness and healing. This discovery became a cornerstone of her practice.
Cinde’s move to Sarasota was serendipitous. Initially recruited to establish the fitness center at the Colony Beach and Tennis Resort, she fell in love with the area’s natural beauty and made Sarasota her home in the early 1990s. After a decade at the Colony, she launched her practice, earning a reputation for working with individuals facing unique physical challenges, such as Parkinson’s and balance disorders.
At her studio in downtown Sarasota, Cinde leads a team of six trainers specializing in Pilates and other movement disciplines. The studio fosters community and collaboration, offering workshops and insights from various trainers. Cinde’s dedication to long-term solutions and intuitive understanding of the body has transformed countless lives.
Her resilience shines through her personal experiences with injuries, including motorbike and bicycle accidents, which deepened her empathy for clients. Cinde’s journey inspires her to help clients rediscover their bodies, regardless of age or ability, focusing on confidence, self-awareness, and a commitment to growth. Her passion for helping people rediscover their potential is evident in her work. Whether it’s seniors overcoming chronic pain, athletes improving their performance, or individuals learning to breathe and move efficiently, Cinde’s personalized and holistic approach transforms lives.
Cinde Carroll’s story is one of movement, innovation, and compassion. From Chicago’s urban energy to Sarasota’s tranquil shores, she has dedicated her life to empowering others through fitness and holistic well-being. Her legacy continues to inspire, one client at a time.
